LEA BOARD APPROVES LEC KVA TARIFF APPLICATION
The Board of the Lesotho Electricity Authority (LEA), on Thursday, approved the Lesotho Electricity Company’s LEC (Pty) Ltd’s application to migrate from kilowatt (kW) billing to kilovolt-ampere (kVA) billing. This is for a power factor threshold of 0.93. The KVA billing is effective from 1st July, 2007.
In its sitting at the LEA headquarters today, the Board also resolved that the kVA billing be pegged at M123.318 per kVA for high Voltage customers and at M123.969 per kVA for low voltage customers.
This is the second time this year, that the LEA Board considers a tariff proposal from the Company. It will also be recalled that, the LEC’s request to be allowed to move to kVA billing comes after several maximum demand customers have installed power factor correction equipment.
