REU
was
established in early 2004 under the Department
of Energy. It has been put in place as a follow-up
tof the recommendations of several studies and
the draft rural electrification policy of 2003
that, to carry out rural electrification successfully
there should be a body dedicated to implement
rural electrification projects. Its primary responsibility
is to implement electrification projects outside
the service territory of LEC. Such area has been
declared to be 3.5 km from the existing LEC network
infrastructure throughout Lesotho. |
